Knowledge of HIV and AIDS and Predictors among Students at Nelson Mandela University in South Africa

Almost half of the students had poor knowledge about HIV and AIDS. There are still misconceptions about HIV and AIDS transmission routes among students. Predictors of HIV and AIDS knowledge are monthly stipend, year of study, and field of study. To improve the students level of knowledge about HIV and AIDS, there is a need to engage in information, education, and communication campaigns to ensure that correct information is delivered to prevail over these myths, misunderstandings, and misconceptions to promote needed behaviours that would reduce the spread of HIV and AIDS
