Image

The study conducted surveys among physicians and dietitians from pediatric outpatient clinics in Western Sweden. A total of 48 physicians and 12 dietitians participated, providing insights into their follow-up practices for pediatric CD. The overall findings indicated that the clinical practice in the region was consistent with national and international guidelines for CD management. The frequency of follow-up visits ranged from annual to biannual, aligning with recommendations for regular monitoring of CD patients. The assessment of dietary adherence was primarily conducted through unstructured interviews and serology measurements. While these methods are commonly used, the study identified the potential for improvement in this area. The use of validated questionnaires could provide a more standardized and objective assessment of dietary adherence. One notable area for improvement highlighted in the study was the transition process from pediatric to adult care for CD patients. Implementing a formal transition process could ensure continuity of care and support the smooth transfer of management responsibilities. This finding emphasizes the importance of establishing guidelines or protocols for the transition period.
